no more wind!!

Finally this morning I was greeted with nice sunny weather. It wasn't overly warm but finally the crazy wind was gone. Finally Cleo could go outside for the day.

I was greeted as usual with a big nicker when I walked in the barn. It's good to be loved. After blanketing Cleo up I let her out. She was very cautious as she reached the doorway outside but then realized it was safe to go out. She started in on her grain as I went back to clean her stall. A few minutes later I heard the unmistakable sound of hoof beats. Sure enough Cleo was in the back of the barn exploring I shooed her out and went back to work. A few minutes later I heard her enter the barn yet again. Again I shooed her out where she stopped and looked at me. Finally I thought to myself " Why isn't she eating her hay? She loves to eat...". Apparently Cleo didn't want to paw into the snow like a normal horse would to find her meal. I went out with a pitchfork to pick up the remains of her round bale, shake the snow off and deposit in a new "snow-free" heap. Only my horse would be too much of a princess to forage through the snow and bother me mercilessly until I did what she wanted. After doing this she was quite happy to leave me alone though I think she would have liked to play with me a little bit. I'm not really into running around with such a large animal as I can't buck like she can. Silly animal. I've thought about finding her a friend but she's not welcoming to anything that's not human invading her space. This includes small creatures as well such as cats. Cleo is definitely the "queen" on the property.
